Michael I. Dougherty, M.D.
Dr. Dougherty is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered otolaryngology care for both adults and children. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Dr. Dougherty’s interest in otolaryngology was sparked during his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, where he conducted basic science research on head and neck cancer. He continued his medical education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Dougherty completed his residency training at Oregon Health and Science University, where he gained extensive experience in the full spectrum of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, from common conditions to complex surgical procedures. During his training, he received multiple awards for research and teaching. His work has been published in national journals and textbooks, and he has presented at numerous national meetings.
Dr. Dougherty’s clinical interests encompass the entire range of disorders of the head and neck, with special interests in sinus and nasal surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and surgical treatment of sleep apnea, including Inspire device placement. He believes in a collaborative approach, working closely with patients and their families to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Dougherty enjoys spending quality time with his wife, chasing their two young children.
