Use only acetaminophen (Tylenol) or other medications prescribed by your doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FASTING INSTRUCTIONS:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>No solid food after midnight the night before surgery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No chewing gum after 12 midnight the night before surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Under 1 Year of Age<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>At least 6 hours without formula<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 4 hours without breast milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 4 hours without water or clear liquids *<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No solid food after midnight the night before surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1 Year to 3 Years of Age<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>At least 6 hours without formula or breast milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 4 hours without clear liquids*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No solid food after midnight the night before surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3 Years to 18 years of Age<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>At least 4 hours without clear liquids*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No solid food after midnight the night before surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients having local anesthesia may have a light breakfast up to 2 hours before surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*CLEAR LIQUIDS include jello, apple juice, water, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OTHER INSTRUCTIONS:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A. Medications<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Oral medications may be taken on the day of the surgery with one tablespoon of water per pill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are taking insulin or oral hypoglycemics consult your doctor for instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring all inhalers to the hospital with you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not take aspirin, aspirin products, or ibuprofen products (Motrin, Advil, Nuprin, etc.) for two weeks before and two weeks after surgery \u2013 Tylenol is ok.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>B.
