Balloon Sinuplasty Post Op Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Do not blow nose for 3 days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Saline spray to nose every 4 hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Use nasal irrigation daily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Afrin<\/a> (or generic brand) used twice a day for 3 days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Use pain medication as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Call office if needed for questions or problems. 847-674-5585.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. May use drip pad under nose if needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Eat light today, but drink plenty of fluids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Expect some drainage for several days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Normal activities may be resumed tomorrow, but no heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for 3 days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    What Else To Expect?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    1. Pain<\/strong>. You can expect mild to moderate nasal\/facial pain after the procedure. You may take Tylenol or other medication as directed or prescribed by your surgeon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Drainage<\/strong>. You can expect some bleeding for a few days after surgery. You may also experience thick, brown drainage (mucus and old blood) from your nose for several weeks. If bleeding persists, elevate your head and lean forward while pinching your nostrils for 15 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Congestion<\/strong>. Expect to have mild congestions for up to several days. To minimize nasal congestion, sleep with your head elevated for 2-3 days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Activity<\/strong>. No lifting more than 15 pounds, bending excessively or straining for 48 hours after your procedure. No vigorous exercise until instructed by your surgeon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. If you need to cough or sneeze, do so with an open mouth. Do not blow your nose until 24 hours following the procedure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Medications<\/strong>. Do not resume blood-thinning medications such as aspirin NSAIDs, etc. until instructed by your surgeon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Use saline nasal spray to cleanse your nose (Ocean Spray, Simply Saline, etc.) two to four times\/day. Perform nasal lavage (Sinus Irrigation) 5 times daily. This will help prevent large crusts from forming in your sinuses. Use other medicated nasal sprays according to your doctor\u2019s instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    8. Post-operative cleaning:<\/strong> You may require postoperative cleaning (called sinus debridement) periodically following the procedure. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    9. Call for<\/strong>:<\/a>\u00a0Fever >101.5F, persistent bleeding or clear watery drainage from your nose, visual changes, worsening headaches, or stiff neck.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
